As an avid sports enthusiast including adventure racing and multi-sport Deborah has always been interested in nutrition and a healthy lifestyle, but like everyone else believed her diet was pretty good until nearly 5 years ago she read “The China Study” by T. Colin Campbell. “There was no going back after reading this book, and it sparked my passion for Whole Food Plant-Based nutrition”.
From there it was non-stop research and a transition to the diet. “The fact that it’s evidence based and scientifically proven is what did it for me. I’m analytical, so I needed to see the research and learn about it from multiple experts and reputable sources. Learning about how food affects the body has been, and continues to be, fascinating. It cleared up all the confusion I’d had about what is the best diet because it’s based on science and biology”.
Having been through the process of switching to a Whole Food Plant-Based diet, experiencing the health benefits, and seeing friends and family who also change get healthier and come off their medications, Deborah’s goal is to inspire others and make it easier for them to do the same. “I had the same questions and concerns everyone new to this has and had to learn about it through my own research, but now we have an abundance of accessible information and an entire WFPB NZ community right here in NZ including doctors and health practitioners”.
Deborah lives in Helensville, Auckland, is a Digital Project Manager / Senior Business Analyst, and owner of Web Logix – a website & mobile app development company. Deborah has completed the Plant-Based Nutrition Certificate through the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies and eCornell, As an animal lover, Deborah has too many cats to mention and a beloved dog called Apollo.

Caitlin trained as a doctor in the U.K. graduating in 2014 and came to New Zealand 2 years ago where her plant-based journey began. She is currently training in Urgent care across various clinics in Auckland. She has a keen interest in Lifestyle Medicine, a career she hopes to pursue.
Caitlin has always been passionate about nutrition, exercise and stress management and the powerful impact on her patient’s health and wellbeing. She began by gaining experience in Sports Medicine, working at the London Marathon and long distance cycling events in the U.K.
Whist in New Zealand, she sparked her interest in whole food plant-based nutrition through her own research which she formalised through gaining her Certificate in Plant-Based Nutrition from eCornell and T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies.
After recently completing the Mindfulness and Awareness Aotearoa course, she promotes this with her patients as a potent tool to help with stress, sleep and mood disturbance.

Karen’s background is in ultrasonography. She trained in the states at Southern Illinois University. Since graduating in 2010 she has worked in a tertiary hospital settings. In 2015 she made the move to New Zealand.
Karen has been a vegetarian for most of her life. At the young ripe age of 18 was when she made the switch and it wouldn’t be for another 16 years before she goes vegan. But it wasn’t until a recent health scare that she learned the importants of a whole food plant based lifestyle.
Being a lover of health and the way the human body works since a very early age, then seeing first hand the unnecessary suffering of her patient’s has sparked a fire in Karen to get this message out; of how important a whole food plant based lifestyle is to the welfare of the people, land and animals.
